3 Steps on Getting Started on Something New This Year
Procrastination Station
Cracking the code to beat procrastination seems easy—just start, right? We've all heard it, and it's been my mantra for a while. But reality kicks in when your schedule is packed! Finding time for something new can be a challenge. I find ambitious ideas continually pushed to the next week, untouched amid the day-to-day business grind. It gets worse when you have exciting ideas but no clear starting point, leading to years of inaction. Not this year—no more letting great ideas slip away!
This year, My focus is on progressing and moving forward, and I'm adopting the motto — seize your opportunities.. If you have an idea, don't just think about it—do it. Trying is the only way to see potential rewards, right? So, whether it's starting taking a drawing class, starting a woven wall hanging or picking up a paint brush let's stop procrastinating and begin. I've got 3 steps that have worked for me before and just need to be put into action again!
STEP 1: Choose your Focus
focus on a singular new endeavour. Attempting multiple new things simultaneously will only overwhelm you and result in unfinished tasks. So, if you find yourself with a multitude of ideas (we all do!), opt for the one that resonates with you the most and start there first!
STEP 2: Overcome the Timing Trap
Getting started on something new is often easier than we think, yet many of us get caught up in the idea that the timing has to be perfect. We might convince ourselves that the time of year or our current life situation isn't right. The truth is, there's never a "perfect" time to start something new— it's always a bit challenging. Instead of letting timing hold you back, take small steps now. Don't wait for the perfect moment; create it!
STEP 3: Dive into Learning
A fantastic way to kickstart your journey into something new is by taking a class. Whether it's an online course, a local workshop, or even a virtual tutorial, learning can provide the knowledge and skills needed to fuel your venture. Don't underestimate the power of education in propelling you forward. Enroll in a class related to your chosen endeavor and acquire the tools that will set you on the path to success.
