How to Plan a Bridal Party

When your girlfriend is getting married, it’s a cause for a celebration

Planning a bridal party is an exciting task that requires careful consideration of the brides preferences and interests. We love themed events! Special drinks, a dress code & fabulous decor. Plus, when do you really get to celebrate your favourite gal?  For this bridal party we put together a fun evening, that included a ceramic workshop, cocktails and fun games at Studio YEG ART with close friends and family to celebrate the bride to be. It was also a great excuse to dress cute, get artsy, drink fancy cocktails and enjoy delicious treats. Studio YEG ART is the perfect spot for Bridal Showers! A beautiful space surrounded by an art gallery! What’s not to like?

First, we decorated the space with balloons from The Balloon Store, which we highly recommend. the balloons are high quality and last for months … literally. You won’t be disappointed. Then we put out cute signs for the brides to make it extra special and filled the space with yummy eats.

The workshop we planned was very simple and added to the event but wasn’t the focus. Prior to the event we threw an assortment of ceramic vases. Each attendee was given a bisque vase (meaning a vase that has been through the kiln once) Everyone was able to make it their own using underglaze to decorate their vessel. We then glazed them and tossed them in the kiln for firing. The following week the gals were able to pick them up!

What’s a party without a couple games. We thought of two fun games that are quick, simple and a lot of fun.

Game 1: Pin the Lips on the groom: For this game we blew up photos of the grooms and taped them to the wall. We then cut out a variety of lips for each gal to choose from that matched their own lovely lips. Each gal was blind folded and twirled around and had to find their way to the wall without using hands to put their lips on the groom. The winner won a prize.

Game 2: POP: We divided everyone into two teams. Each team was given a flat balloon that had a note in it and a pump. Each member of the team had to pump the balloon 10 times and then pass it to their team mate. The first team to pop their balloon won. the winning team then chose a member of the opposing team to do what was in the note. For example: kiss the bride, make a drink for everyone, etc.

Here is a guide to help you plan a memorable party:

  1. Set a date: It’s best to plan the party and send out invites a month or two ahead of time to avoid any last minute stress.

  2. Create a budget: Include in your budget the venue, activities, decor and food. Divide the costs among the attendees or within the budget of the person planning the party.

  3. Choose a theme (optional): Themes can add a fun and cohesive element to the celebration

  4. pick an awesome venue … like Studio ;)

  5. Plan activities: Think about what the bride would like. This could include games, an art workshop, a wine tasting, mixology class, permanent jewelry party, or any other activities the bride might enjoy. You can check out our partnerships under our complete your experience page

  6. Send invitations: Once the details are finalized sent out the invites. include all relevant info. such as the date, time, location, dress code, etc.

  7. Decorations and favour: as mentioned above The Balloon Store has a great selection of balloons! If a theme is chosen add some extra flair to the venue.

  8. Capture the memories: We highly recommend Mardon & Co. You can check out his Bio under our Complete Your Experience Page.

  9. Enjoy the Party!
